
Mervat Saleh, CPA, Auditor
Mervat Saleh, CPA, Auditor, is a Teaching Professor in the Accountancy department at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, where she teaches financial reporting and tax in the Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) program. She has actively contributed to university governance through her involvement with the Faculty Council, CPA Program Committee, and the undergraduate curriculum review committee, among others. Her teaching experience spans a broad range of accounting and other disciplines, including advanced financial accounting, managerial accounting, assurance, personal and corporate taxation, and business valuation. She has extensive experience developing, coordinating, and teaching courses at the undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce, MBA, Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and CPA programs.
Mervat involvement with the CPA Canada National program as a session leader and coach for Core I, Taxation, Assurance, and Capstone II is a significant testament to her expertise and dedication to the profession since the inception of the unified Canadian CPA designation in 2014.
Mervat received her Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma in Accountancy degrees from Concordia university. She is a member of CPA Canada.
Mervat was a Senior Audit Manager with a CPA firm. She accomplished diverse corporate projects as a consultant applying both Canadian GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards for various private and public companies.
Mervat dedication to CPA candidates is clearly evident in her textbook publications: CPA Financial Reporting, CFE Financial reporting and EFC Information Financière. These books are written to help CPA candidates to master International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Canadian General Accepting Principles (GAAP), and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) and to provide CPA candidates with clear and comprehensive technical coverage of financial accounting topics frequently tested in the Common Final Examination. Mervat publications use practical approach to develop and build an effective problem-solving and writing technique for CFE purposes. Candidates are presented with assessment opportunities, success tips, and hints on applying the standards to cases in order to correctly apply the complex criteria in a practical and easy way.
